What you can do to protect yourself and others:

COVID-19 is the most contagious disease that has infected many people in a very short time. Most people who experience an infection have a mild illness and get cured, but it can be more severe for others i.e. Senior citizens and people who have a medical condition. Here are some simple steps you can take to protect your health and the health of other people. If you are traveling, take precautionary steps to protect yourself and others from COVID-19:

  • Avoid close contact by staying at least 6 feet away from anyone who is not from your house.
  • Wear a mask and keep your nose and mouth covered when going to a public setting.
  • Wash your hands often or use hand sanitizer to keep your hands clean.
  • Restrict yourself to make contact with whoever is sick.
  • Avoid touching your eyes, nose, and mouth while you are in a public area or by unwashed hands.
  • Do not travel if you are feeling sick.
  • Get information from trusted sources

Will I be quarantined after arriving in India?

  • Before boarding, All incoming travelers should submit self-declaration form on the online portal ( at least 72 hours before the scheduled travel.
  • Travelers may also seek exemption from institutional quarantine by submitting a negative RT-PCR test report on arrival. This test should have been conducted within 96 hrs prior to undertaking the journey. The test report should be uploaded on the portal for consideration. Each passenger shall also submit a declaration with respect to the authenticity of the report and will be liable for a criminal prosecution if found otherwise. The test report could also be produced upon arrival at the point of entry airport in India.
  • All incoming travelers shall give a declaration that they will undergo mandatory quarantine for 14 days – 7 days paid institutional quarantine at their own cost, followed by 7 days isolation at home with self-monitoring of health.
  • Only for some exceptional and compelling reasons such as pregnancy, death of immediate, case of human distress, serious illness, and parent(s) accompanied by children below 10 years, as assessed by the receiving states, home quarantine may be permitted for 14 days.

  • The use of the Aarogya Setu app shall be mandatory in such cases.
  • Union Human Resource Development Minister Ramesh Pokhriyal launched a web portal to monitor and record the initiative by the ministry to combat Covid-19 with Knowledge, Technology, and Innovation (YUKTI)
